Full House

D.J. Tanner had the perfect life. All my childhood I was an avid watcher of that early nineties gem "Full House." I mean, D.J. was hip. And not only was she hip, her family left her alone. See, the Tanners developed that whole trust thing that escapes my parents. When D.J. came home past her curfew one night, Dad Tanner comes downstairs (having waited up for his dear daughter) to meet her. Is he angry? Not visibly. Does he scream? Of course not. What, exactly, does fair and just Dad Tanner do? He asks her where she was. D.J., so overwhelmed by her guilt, does not need to be punished. Dad Tanner knows his little girl would never do anything to disappoint him, and miraculously, she never does!

Do you see how this trust thing works? And later in D.J.'s life, when she becomes seriously involved (Oh no!) with a boy, Dad Tanner trusts her.

Trust. Beautiful damn thing. Too bad it only exists on T.V.
